Following a recently released report shedding light on the country’s consumer preferences in alternative meat options, the Japanese Government has granted a total of $19.6 million in funding to two alternative protein ventures. One of these initiatives is Umami United, based in Tokyo, focusing on the production of plant-based egg products. The other is IntegriCulture, a cultured meat producer that received a larger grant of $13.1 million.
